Jess Rosen is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY.

"I began using layered paper as a way to work through a feeling of hopelessness, and the idea of possibility. A sheet of paper holds endless potential within its edges. When I tear away the middle of a page, I tear away these possibilities. Yet, through the labor- intensive, repetitive, and reductive processes of sandpapering, rasping, and cutting, the material adapts, and a form emerges. Depth is born from the labor.

Through focusing on reductive processes and materiality, I explore the potential of blank space."
